Hello to all. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
With the threads back to some semblance of sanity and
the "we hate Batman" posts starting to wane, I thought
it would be a good time for Batman to come clean and tell
you a little bit about how this whole thing started,
How/why I got involved, why I had to quit, and a few
other things. So..... here goes.
NOTICE: If you're not interested in knowing any of this,
please just jump to another thread. Thanks.
BACKGROUND--
When I first started accessing this forum (I think it wa
s in late January), the original Batman was posting. His
style was different from my Batman, but I enjoyed his posts.
Someone has posted that he is now active in the IRC world
and is still using the Batman moniker.
HOW THIS BATMAN GOT STARTED--
Late one Friday night (I believe it was March 14), I was
logged on to the forum and the threads were a mess. Look
at last weekend's threads as an example. So I thought I
would leave a post from Batman just to see what would happen
over the weekend of 3/16-3/17. I posted something like "Big
arrest over the weekend. Stay close to the news." and a
couple of other wild assertions that I can't recall. Some
interesting things happened on the forum that weekend:
1. Some thought the original Batman had returned.
2. The discussions became more civilized with the flaming
and obscenities greatly reduced.
3. People started posting questions to Batman.
Well, now I was hooked. Batman started answering!
WHY BATMAN CONTINUED UNTIL APRIL 4--
I enjoyed the questions and the intellectual challenge (to me)
The challenge for me was to develop credible answers while
maintaining a consistent story. To do that I had to:
1. Create a theory of what happened and stay with it (the one
I created is NOT the one I really believe).
2. Maintain an archive of everything I had posted.
3. Do a LOT of research about the case and things peripheral
to it. I learned a lot!
WHY BATMAN QUIT ON APRIL 4--
There were 3 reasons:
1. The questions were getting very specific and difficult to
dodge. I was about to start sounding like the BPD/DA weekly
press conference. I knew that wasn't going fly for long!
Yes, it was getting "hot in the kitchen".
2. Harold caught me (more on that later).
3. It was becoming too time consuming. This was my primary
reason for stopping. I had decided to write the "Koby memo"
post before reasons 1 and 2 occurred.
MORE ON HAROLD--
Harold, you are amazing. You are indeed a SUPER sleuth.
The BPD could use you. I didn't believe you when you at first
when you said that the newspaper article posted by Harry was
phony. Well, it was, and Batman bit! I had even tried to
track down the original article, but couldn't. That should
have been my clue! I did find an address for a Thomas E.
Forman in both Chicago and Boulder. So, Batman went with that.
This was Batman's post:
"Harold,
As I answered yesterday, we did look into Mr. Foreman. He had
a solid alibi and was in Chicago, IL. from Dec. 22- Jan. 6.
This was easy to quickly verify. He was never a prime suspect".
Gotcha Batman!
Almost as clever as Harold was Harry who created the phony
newspaper article to begin with.
My personal belief is that it was created to bait Jameson,
not to trap Batman. It had just what Jameson need to support
his theory with the "Fraternity (from the same one as JAR)
boy from CU busted for child molestation". Jameson never bit.
But Harold decoded it and used it to bust Batman. Very clever.
By the way, I think someone was trying to trip Batman with
the "Boulder Tower Murders". I researched this and couldn't
find anything so Batman didn't bite. This poster has never
elaborated to tell us otherwise.
WHY CONFESS NOW?--
Saturday morning I started to think about Batman and some of
the reactions being posted after Batman's Friday night's
"Koby memo". I tried to put myself in the position of you.
I begin to realize that if Batman just vanished, it would
be an incomplete story. And I started asking questions (the
ones that I have answered above) I decided it was time for
Batman to confess. Also, I am seeing other posters being
accused of being Batman and that isn't fair to them.
Well, that's this Batman's story. If you have any questions
about Batman's story (not the JonBenet case- we'll try to do
that another time), Please ask. I will answer some later on
today and the rest tomorrow.
One last item. I really won't post as Batman again. I'm sure
someone will, but it won't be me.

You also got tripped up on the fingernail polish. You said
it had been applied but the photo in the tabloid didn't show
any. That was the proof for me. But you were very good and
no harm was done.

Yes,You are correct. I almost looked the picture up on the
net to check, but didn't. I had seen the picture and was sure
that I remembered red polish. Of course, I was wrong.
When someone called me on it (was it you?), I did look at the
photo on the net and to me it wasn't conclusive (the photo in
the Globe may have been). Then some other posters opined that
it could have been clear polish or even pink. I loved them
for that.
With that said, I can tell you this was not a slip that I was
concerned about. I don't think this one would have "busted"
Batman.

Sounds like our poltergeist is still having fun...Why

I do remember that you are the one who aske about JonBenet
wearing makeup when she was murdered. Batman answered you
this way:

The makeup was not excessively applied but included the
items you mentioned (Lipstick, Blush, Mascara) along with
nail polish on fingers and toes."
Yep, ole Batman just had to add in that nail polish.
I also remember you asking twice about a particular room at
BPD.

I'm glad that I played a part in bringing you down.
I would like to be able to do the same with the Killer
of JonBenet. I have done my best to urge the Ramseys to
tell what they know. The reason I started pushing you on
the Boulder Tower Murder is because it is a crime that did
happen in Boulder and it was just as shocking if not more
so that the JonBenet murder. The "Tower Murder" was solved
by the Boulder Police Department. I knew that if you were
really close to the PBD you would be able to easily answer
about the Tower Murder. Since you couldn't it proves that
you are not close to the BPD at all. The fact that you
couldn't even find out about a crime that total shocked and
rocked Boulder in 1966 shows that your abilty to researce
is limited, as this case would be a matter of court record.

I began getting somewhat disgusted with you and some of the people

After I deducted that Harry used last names of John Ramsey's law firm and

You fell for the story and the rest is history.
In summary, I hope you continue with this forum. Your writing skills are
quite good, but be like me: "Check out your information very well to make
sure it is correct. Always tell the truth, the people on this forum are
vunerable because they care so much."
I will not be posting under "Harold" any more. Anyone that does
is an imposter.

I found an interesting article in our local newspaper this last
week. It problbly isn't important, but it is very interesting.
The article comes from the July 12, 1996 issue.
Jefferson City police said that two suspects were arrested today in
the connection with the sexual molestation of an eight year old
last June. The suspects were brought in for questioning and
subsequently booked on suspicion of committing the crime....
The suspects are Richard Haddon, 19, a student of Northwestern
University in Evanston, Illinois, and Thomas Foreman, 20, a student
of Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado, They are both members
of the Chi Psi Social Fraternity....
In a later article---) ....Their trial is scheduled to start May
19, 1997....
I'm not sure, but I think this is the same fraternity that John
Andrew Ramsey is in. I wonder if Thomas was in Boulder December
26th.

or so later the Tabloids come out with NEWS FLASHES that reflect
stuff in here.
Remember when I described the misery of being choked and said I
reached up and scratced his face and now they are acting like
they got a tip from the police that JR had a scratch. and what
about the scenario that had PR running around on JR and setting
the crime up to implicate him. Tabloids..week or so later.

Magic Man: Thanks for explaining the reasons for your Batman
characterization. I was trying to trip you up as well -- the
questions were sometimes *ignored*, so I had my doubts for
awhile. Even as a "doubting Thomas", I still read your posts
because they fostered discussion and showed true concern for
the solving of this crime.
I'm a cynic by nature and would prefer that whatever is discussed
here would be based on the "facts" as we know them through BPD,
or the media -- even when those crumbs are sometimes found to
be in error at a later time. When fact/fiction get tangled here
on the forum -- we add to the confusion that has always been
present here.
I'm impressed with your "confession" and glad that you will stay
with us as Magic Man. It's obvious that you wanted to keep everyone
on TOPIC -- and I can appreciate your intentions.

I can't remember through out the Batman threads whether Batman
ever actually claimed to be a police officer or just implied it.

A WONDERFUL question! (Yeah, I'm still here and will answer the
above questions tomorrow, but this is really good one.)
I can't recall what the first Batman claimed about being a member
of the BPD. I came away with the impression that he did say he
was a member. I hope he/she (?) might come back and give us a
bit of his "confession".
As the second Batman, I wanted to NOT make the claim for the very
reason you pointed out I really don't think it would have mattered,
but here is the closest I came to stating my relationship with law
enforcement:
"DV,
I do not carry a badge and only on rare occasions do I carry a gun."
My insider position was inferred by whatever the first Batman had
established.
And so, that's another part of the story.

I never believed in Batman. Some things defied logic, IMO.

Thanks for the comments. I agree with you regarding the mixing
of fact/fiction. Batman posted a lot of fiction but also tried
to include known facts and unknown facts. By that I mean, when
I came across something that was true, I wove it in to Batman's
answers examples:
1. The discussion of true/phony confessions
2. BPD radio frequencies
3. The URL where the remote computer "reads" your hard drive
4. The Time of Death discussion .
5. The Time of sunrise in Boulder on Dec. 26
Also, the tabloids (which get reported on here in the forum) add
to the confusion. As an example, I'm not buying the "JR visiting
the Denver porn stores, but many are.
As for Magic Man remaining on the forum-- I'm sure I will always
lurk. I would like to rapidly fade away from posting after I
answer the few remaining questions about Batman.

No, I am not British. A few other guesses have been posted about
who Batman might be. No one came close. I was very serious
about the poem and when someone re-posted it right after the
"Koby memo", I was again moved to tears. I never had intentions
of being mean and only meant it to be entertaining, fun, and
thought provoking. I think for the most part Batman achieved this.
As for as real insiders posting on this forum. NO WAY! If I
had some real inside scoop, I think I could find someone out
there who would be willing to pay me more then this forum will.

By the way, When NBC reported about John Brewer Eustace last night,
they showed his mug shot. I couldn't help but notice that he had
cut back his bushy hair. I think I also saw a Chi Psi emblem
on his jacket. :+))))

So Batman is not really Batman at all. He is a fake. A pretender.
A poser. An imposter.
Well, now, I wonder if other people of the forum are really who or
what they claim to be. In all probability, 90 % of the people who
post here fudge, lie, pretend, act, create, invent, imagine,
exaggerate, embroidery or make up.
I have posted under at least ten or twelve different hats and nobody
seems to know the difference. People believe what they want to believe.
See what they want to see. Fool themselves, because it is sometimes
fun to be fooled.
As Barnum said, "There is a sucker born every minute." A lot of
them surf the net. And a lot of pretenders and wanna-be actors and
actresses do the same. Pretty good matches, I suppose.
Unfortunately, some people cannot tell a pretender and fake from a
real person. It is that way in real life, of course, but online
it is even more pronounced. People tend to give more creedance
to anything they see on a computer monitor screen.
I know this...it is amazing, just amazing, how easy it is to fool
some people and send them up a blind alley.

I did not say that Batman had been a policeman for 22 years. I'm
sure there are many administators whocan truthfully say they have
been in law enforcement for 22 years. Mom, I hate to break the news

Magic - I'm having a grand chuckle right now. Often wondered whether
this would all come out. As I've posted prior to today, I never cared
whether you had inside info or not -- I was under the impression you
probably worked for one of the tabs (remember when you said "shocking
twist"? It was on the cover of one of this week's tabs (I can't
remeber which - but I bought it!)
The rest of you are making me roar, too -- am I the ONLY one who never
posted as anyone but HARRIET?
And to those of you who are ticked off - lighten up. We're all here
for the same reason (those of us who are serious) - let's keep it up
with compassion and a great hunger for the truth.

Lighten up, everybody. This is the Internet. If you come here for
"scoops" you're barking up the wrong tree. Other forums, even
monitored ones, have the same problem. There are universal complaints
about "liars" and "fakers". People can steal your hat, as I found
out recently, and there's not much you can do about it. That's
what happens when you catch the attention of angry people. I enjoyed
Batman's creativity, though where he found the time is beyond me.
Speaking of enjoyment, Batman, when you said you really enjoyed my
post, the one about a cop risking his career, etc., that told me
you were having a bit of fun. It wasn't the kind of thing a cop
would say - I've never heard a cop say they really enjoyed anything.
They're much too guarded for that. Cops by nature tend to be
suspicious, it's their job. Cops do get mad at the bungling of their
superiors and one might be tempted to leak info in this case - but
they would do it on a bigger scale, for their own protection.
Speaking of cops and actors do rent the documentary "Hollywood Madam",
by the BBC's Nick Bloomfield, for a hilarious scene of ex-police
chief Daryl Gates and also check out the cop in jail - he's a dead
ringer for Mark Fuhrman.
Magic Man, what you did was a lot less damaging than what some others
have done here in their fixation on certain thread personalities. The vicious attacks are so unwarranted.
