GVS Update:

Kathleen Savio's autopsy by Dr. Baden has been completed. (showing Dr. Baden performing the autopsy)

Body was not in very good condition, but there were enough good hair, bone, and tissues in good condition for testing.

Arrived at 1:18 and concluded at 3:38. Went to talk to family.

Before the autopsy, spoke with KS's father and the rest of the family going over their concerns and what they wanted to learn from the autopsy. Concerns about the way her body was found. No one heard from her 36 hours prior to when she was found. KS usually removed her jewelry and put her hair up when bathing and that is not how she was found. Coroner was very helpful to Dr. Baden. There were 5 IL State Troopers present, a coroner to go over the x-rays, Steph Watts from OTR. Nice facilities.

13 x-rays were taken in 2nd autopsy, and Dr. Baden saw those. No broken bones were discovered with the x-rays.

Dr. * has done about 20,000 autopsies and 200+ exhumation autopsies (usually done when additional information comes to light after burial) during his career. Always some deterioration with exhumation. Advantage is that already have info and the focus if very targeted. A lot of water got into the casket, so there was a lot of soft tissue damage. There was enough good tissue available for testing despite the deterioration. The hair was already cleaned up so there was no blood in the hair. MOD is a homocide. No doubt to a reasonable degree of medical certainty. Even initially there was enough evidence to reach that conclusion with no drugs or alcohol present, no medical problems. There was trauma to the body that was fresh. 1st autopsy even described the bruises as fresh--bright purple discoloration, fresh hemorrage. Looked at the bruises under the microscope to confirm that.

No bruises on arms or back--they were on legs, thighs, abdomen.

The head is pushed down into the water by a stronger person, so no bruises. No evidence of strangulation. Laceration was probably not sufficient to cause loss of consciousness. No possibility of accident or suicide. Autopsy tells you what happened, police tells you who done it.

Samples of tissues and toxicology tests were sent away for certain poisons. Chief agreed that testing for poisons was a good idea. Bruises on hands indicate defensive wounds. Fingernails were short and nothing was found now.

Reported to the family, spoke to the Troopers, then spoke with Greta. Always hard to discuss these issues with family, especially when the family is very close as KS was with her family. This pain has been in their hearts a long time.

KS father never believed it was an accident and thought someone had killed her. Whole different situation and feel better that the truth is known now. Sue, KS's sister, was very close to KS, and is very relieved to know, but don't know who did this. We knew the whole time that someone did this and we are glad to have Dr. Baden here to confirm it. Father--we're all more at ease that the police department is finally doing something about this.

Greta: the current COP and DA were not the ones in office when KS died.

GVS Update:

Dr. Baden announced KS is a victim of homocide, no accident.

Public has condemned DP, but friend Steve Carcerano is still supporting DP. He was friends with KS as well. SC showing a photo of KS with an electric guitar. DP is doing fine. SC lived two doors down from KS. Noticed nothing unusual around KS's house before she was found. KS had a boyfriend she had dated 1-1/2 years. Drew called a locksmith. We went over there and I found KS dead. The neighbors and KS family all want to get the truth about how KS died.

DP will be getting his pension, but he will lose 2% because he resigned a few days shy of his 30 years. Chief refused to accept DP's resignation because he thought DP was trying to avoid an internal investigation. Commission attorney said they had to grant DP his pension because legally DP met the standards (age and years of service) and has not been convicted of any crime. Should he later be convicted, he could lose his pension if it was a job related felony (not necessarily when on duty).

Legal panel coming up next.

Wife #3's death a homocide per Dr. Baden

Jeanine Pirro, Dr. Baden, Bernie, Ted

JP: SA in petitioning for exhumation questioned patterns of blood in the tub. What was the condition of the head in relation of the tub.

Baden: Has not yet seen the photos. Head was above water initially, then later face down, with tense lividity. Over 20-30 hours the water leaked out of the tub and she went to the bottom of the tub and to the left.

Bernie: Concerned about the time of death. Can you determine that?

Baden: Sometimes can draw fluid from the eyes to tell, but not in this case. First autopsy - fixed, purple lividity -- indicates dead minimum of 10, possibly 20-30 hours before being found.

Ted: Thanks to Dr. Baden for doing this for the family. First time he has seen a homocide like this play out on television. Any idea when RM set in, left? Injuries to fingernails?

Baden: RM came 12 hours, stayed 12 hours and left, so minimum of 24 to 30 hours she was in tub before she was found. Fingernails were not in a condition to be of help in this case.

KS's body was found around 11:00 pm Monday - death may have happened Sunday morning. Hair was found in bathtub and will be tested.
