Elaina Steinfurth (age 18 mo) MISSING - Toledo, Ohio - June 2, 2013 Elaina Jade Steinfurth, 18 months, missing June 2, 2013, Toledo, Ohio. Her mother, Angela (Mories) Steinfurth called her boyfriend's mother (Julie King) around 6:30-7:00pm on Saturday, June 1st, 2013 saying they had no place to stay and asking if she could stay overnight with her two children, Elaina, 18 months, and Kylee, age 4. On Sunday, June 2nd, the two children's father, Terry "TJ" Steinfurth, Jr. showed up to pick them up, at which time Angela informed him that Elaina was suddenly missing! Elaina was last seen at the Steven King's home, 704 Federal St. in East Toledo, Ohio Elaina has blue eyes and brown hair, approx. 2 feet tall, weighs 21 pounds. (Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.toledofreepress.com 07/02/13): Second fisherman finds suspected human hair in Maumee River "A different fisherman found what he believed to be human hair June 29 in the same location. Fisherman Greg Boswell found the strands June 23." "Well, I was fishing with my granddaughter and we pulled something up and I said, ‘Hey, I think this is human hair,’” Boswell told Toledo Free Press on July 2." "When the second hairs were found, relatives of missing 18-month-old Elaina Steinfurth petitioned the Toledo Police Department to dive the river. Earlier reports indicated that the missing toddler’s body could have been placed in the river under the High-Level Bridge."

(Excerpts) - (www.northwestohio.com 07/02/13): After 2 report finding 'hair', Baby Elaina searchers comb bottom of Maumee River themselves "Toledo Blade reported that another fisherman, named Patrick Howard, made a similar discovery." "In light of the latest news, volunteer searchers began combing the bottom of the Maumee River using grapnel anchors to search for more evidence themselves. "Basically we're hoping to come up with anything that's down at the bottom, any evidence or anything that's down there," volunteer searcher Andres Perez said. Perez said that the anchors were purchased by Elaina's father, T.J. Steinfurth. Unfortunately, so far, volunteers have not been as "lucky" at finding clues as the two unsuspecting fisherman that found "hair". "We found some cloth, a couple of bottles tied together with sand in them, a bunch of logs," Perez said of what he and another searcher found on Tuesday. "It's stuff that could be useful but then could be junk in the river."

(Excerpt from interview or article) - (www.hlntv.com 07/08/13): Baby Elaina missing more than a month "Sergeant Joe Heffernan told HLN Monday that tests confirmed quickly that the tuft of hair discovered by a fisherman in the river was human, but the DNA tests to determine whether it is Elaina’s hair will take two or three more weeks. Police sent divers back into the river last week, but “it was to no avail,” according to Heffernan. “We’ve been continuing to go full-on with the investigation here,” he said. “We have an enormous amount of manpower invested in this."
