NEWS ON THE CASE!!! The investigators are in NC looking at the kidnapper of the 2 yr old last month. Seems there are some similarities. And there was a broken window at the Ramsey house. Turn on the news!!!

jams jameson - 07:58pm Apr 7, 1997 (#216 of 500)
The NC suspect is named John Brewer Eustace. He is 32 years old and recently kidnapped a 2 yr old child from her bed in Charlotte, NC. He is possibly linked to killings of 4 other 6 and 7 yr old girls taken from their beds.

jams jameson - 08:52pm Apr 7, 1997 (#219 of 500)
He took the 2 yr old from her bed and to his room in a house he shared with 3 other people. They heard the child cry and he made some story for having her. She was released, just dropped off, after 4 days. He actually flagged down a cop to turn himself in. His story is on front page of Charlotte Observer 4/4.

jams jameson - 08:54pm Apr 7, 1997 (#220 of 500)
The NC child is named Elizabeth Bradshaw. The news of Boulder coming to check him out was on the NBC news.

jams jameson - 08:58pm Apr 7, 1997 (#221 of 500)
The news also tells us there WAS a broken window. That is new. If this guy had an air-tight alibi, I don't think anyone would be traveling from Boulder to Charlotte. What do you think???

jams jameson - 10:13pm Apr 7, 1997 (#225 of 500)
If you get a map, look at the cities, Reno, Nevada...Las Vegas....Salt Lake City, Utah..... and then Boulder? Like making a line across the country? There is also an earlier CA case being mentioned.

jams jameson - 10:15pm Apr 7, 1997 (#226 of 500)
Could this guy possibly have been staying with friends, or hanging out with college kids, Christmas week? If he had an airtight alibi, why would Boulder cops be in Charlotte, NC.?

RAMSEY INVESTIGATION UPDATE #37

Boulder Police today confirmed that Detectives Steve Thomas and Ron Gosage visited Charlotte, North Carolina to follow up on the Ramsey investigation. The detectives were in Charlotte April 6 and 7. Charlotte Police contacted Boulder Police following their arrest of John Brewer Eustice because of similarities in his case and that of JonBenet Ramsey. Following an extensive interview with Eustice, Detectives Thomas and Gosage were able to conclusively rule him out as a suspect in the Ramsey case. Detective Commander John Eller adds, “We are appreciative of this help from the Charlotte Police Department, as we have been of other law enforcement agencies throughout this investigation.”

Detectives from the Boulder Police Department are currently in the Atlanta area continuing to gather information.

Eller explains, “Right now we’re in an analytical phase of the investigation. As we read through over 200 interviews and review material, our investigators will be in and out of state on a myriad of tasks, but we’re not going to provide an itinerary. We have indicated throughout this case that we will talk to experts and interview people who may have information. That will occasionally take us out of state. However, there have been instances where people decided not to talk with our detectives because of the attention this case is receiving. Obviously, that does not help move the case forward.”

Other updates:

DNA testing continues at Cellmark Diagnostics in Maryland. Completion of tests and analysis is expected in four to six weeks.

CRIMSTOPPERS continues to monitor calls on the Ramsey case. In Colorado, people with information can call (303) 440STOP or from outside Colorado, call 18004443776.

Cops check Charlotte lead
Denver Post - April 8, 1997

By Marilyn Robinson and Mary George
Denver Post Staff Writer

April 8 - Investigators working on the JonBenet Ramsey murder have traveled to Charlotte, N.C., apparently to rule out a possible link between the 6-year-old's death and a man arrested there last month on charges of kidnapping and raping a Charlotte toddler.

John Brewer Eustace, 31, of Charlotte, also is under suspicion in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., in the murders of three young girls.

Eustace turned himself in to Charlotte-Mecklenburg County police on March 27, six days after 2-year-old Elizabeth Bradwell was snatched from a bedroom in her mother's basement apartment in Charlotte. Eustace lived near the apartment, and he broke in by kicking in the bedroom screen. The girl, who was missing for three days, turned up in a neighbor's backyard.

Eustace has been charged with first-degree burglary, rape, kidnapping, first-degree sex offense and four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, said Capt. Sean Mulhall of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. "We're trying to establish a timeline on this fellow, where he has been and where he has traveled through," Mulhall said.

Of interest to Boulder police is whether Eustace may have been in Colorado in December.

Steve Thomas: Well, John, I’ll tell you this. I’ve sat in a North Carolina jail cell with a suspected child serial killer, hoping that I could put him in Boulder on December 26. So there’s two sides to that, and it doesn’t sell papers when I’m chasing when it’s not John Ramsey.

John Ramsey: I know that.

Plea planned in girl's abduction, assault,
By GARY L. WRIGHT Staff Writer

John Brewer Eustace, accused of snatching a Charlotte toddler from her bedroom in March, terrifying parents across the city, says he intends to plead guilty to kidnapping and molesting the 2-year--old girl.

``I can't believe I did what I did,'' Eustace told The Observer in an interview at the Mecklenburg County jail. ``I believe there's something in me that shouldn't be there and needs to be harnessed and controlled so it won't get loose. I am a sick person. No doubt about it. But prison is not the answer.''

The 32-year-old laborer is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, three counts of first-degree sexual offense and four counts of indecent liberties. Eustace said the prosecutor has offered a plea bargain: plead guilty to all the charges and get a 50-year prison sentence.

Eustace "acknowledged molesting" the girl in what he described as a random abduction. He denied raping her but said he still intends to plead guilty to all the charges. ``What have I got to lose? I ain't got nothing to lose,'' he said. ``Whether I get 50 years, 35 years or more, my life is over. It doesn't matter.''

Police say Eustace confessed to the crimes, according to a search warrant. Another court document discloses there is a plea offer on the table. During Wednesday's interview at the jail, Eustace, who hadn't shaved in two days, talked about his childhood and how he was molested by baby sitters. He said he's always been attracted to little girls.

Three days after the child was snatched, she was found wrapped in dirty men's long johns in a back yard, near a rooming house where Eustace lived. "Not in the Ramsey home"; says Michael M.

``I don't want to put the family through a trial,'' he said. ``They've been through enough.''

My observations:

The intruder uses a window for entry, confesses to the crime, has sympathy for the family, takes the child out of the home, rapes her, and finally kills her. What does this have to do with the Ramsey case? Nothing! Nothing at all! The intruder is not a pedophile.

The Ramsey's said they gave out keys, a lot of keys. They used the word keys to shift the investigation off themselves, and some people are still looking for this invisible intruder with keys. But why would the Ramseys make so much about the keys, when this only suggests a family member or friend would have keys?

Crimes that involve intruders have real intruder evidence. There is evidence that there was an intruder. We don't have that here. No hairs, fibers, blood, footprints, and no forced entry. People can only speculate there was an intruder......

There are no speculative answers for any of these questions, for an intruder theory. There is no logical sequence of events to figure an intruder did it.

How did they enter the home?
How did they exit the home?
What about the alarm?
When did the intruder enter the home?
When did they exit the home?
When did they write the note?
Why did they write the note?
Why did they stage the scene?
Why didn't they take the child from the home?

Does an intruder want to get caught? Ciminals don't want to get caught. In fact, nobody wants to get caught, so why did the intruder stay for hours in the home. No telephone lines were cut either.

Does the family have something to hide? Somebody hid the body in the basement. How does an intruder hide the body, and the family purposely missed the body. Does anyone believe they did not hide the body, and they failed to find the body? How can anyone believe both situations from the Ramsey point of view. You can't believe both situations happened! If an intruder placed the body in the basement, then they find the body. There are two inexplicable events that spell LIARS! "Oh well, ah, we searched, but ah, we, ah, oh, don't look in that room." The Ramseys live with this as their excuse for not finding JonBenet. They have said nothing on this matter, and they had and have plenty of chances to speak out. Check out their web sites, 2 CNN interviews, ads and flyers, and there is nothing about defending themselves. You won't hear anything either. So how can anybody explain an intruder hid the body, and controlled the search for JonBenet at the same time?

The Ramseys are their own worst defenders, that have said nothing. When they do speak out, then they criticize, the media, the DA's office, the Mayor of Boulder, the BPD, and even their former friends and servants. So if you listen to the Ramseys everybody else is guilty. They want us internet slueths to feel guilty too. But I ain't guilty of SH!TT! I don't have to point to my friends or family.

Written by Lawrence Schiller, February 18, 1999

"In Boulder on April 2, Detective Steve Thomas spoke to Sergeant Tom Athey of the Charlotte- Mecklenburg (North Carolina) Police Department. Athey told Thomas that they had a suspect in custody who might have been involved in the murder of JonBenet. On March 21, John Brewer Eustace had allegedly kidnapped a two-year-old child from a ground-level apartment. The child had then been violently sexually molested and found with a cloth in her mouth.

PMPT Page 347sb

Entry to the apartment had been made through a small ground-level window that was covered with a screen while a baby-sitter was within earshot of the baby's crib.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police had found in Eustace's residence a kind of shrine full of JonBenet's photos carefully cut from newspapers and magazines. Eustace admitted to masturbating while viewing the photographs. Within two days Steve Thomas and Ron Gosage were on a plane to North Carolina to interview Eustace, now a suspect in the death of JonBenet.

At 2:20 P.M. on April 5, Thomas and Gosage arrived at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and met with Detective Chris Fish. Gosage, who had a two-year-old, became ill when he saw the photographs of the toddler. At 7:30 that evening, the detectives met John Eustace. After two hours of refusing to answer questions, he waived his rights and agreed to be interviewed by the Boulder detectives. Eustace said he wasn't in Colorado on Christmas night and had never killed anyone. He even pulled hairs from his head and gave them to Thomas and Gosage. He also gave them a handwriting sample. When asked for a pubic hair sample, however, he refused. Later, while Eustace and the detectives took a break to visit the prison toilet, Thomas again asked him for a pubic hair. Again Eustace refused. Gosage pointed out to Eustace that he'd agreed to cooperate. Finally, the prisoner lowered his pants-to show Thomas and Gosage that he couldn't give them the sample they wanted: he was clean-shaven not only around his penis but throughout his lower extremities. He said, "I know all about pubic hair and DNA. I'm too smart to leave anything behind."

The next day Thomas and Gosage discovered that at midnight on December 26, Eustace had been working at the Qualex Plant in Charlotte. Between midnight and six in the morning, a coworker remembered talking to him. At 9:37 Eustace clocked out and left for the day.

PMPT Page 348sb

John Eustace, with his airtight alibi, was just another of the forty-three possible suspects the Boulder PD would interview within the first four months of the investigation. It would take almost a year to check on another fourteen."

What I saw at the feeding frenzy
A between-the-lines look at the Ramsey case
by Frank Coffman

"On the Internet, "Jameson's Timeline" web site presents a lengthy defense of the Ramseys. "Jameson" is the pseudonym of a housewife in North Carolina who had a vision while taking a shower two days after the murder that the Ramseys were innocent. She has met John and Patsy Ramsey and has even managed to insert herself into the police investigation.
In April 1997, a tip from Jameson persuaded Boulder police detectives to fly to North Carolina to interview an imprisoned pedophile as a possible suspect. In another episode in the summer of 1998, Jameson sicced authorities, including the CBI, on the family of a former employee of the Ramseys, alleging that they were part of a child pornography operation. The only thing that came of the investigation was pain for a wrongly-accused family. Now, "Internet sleuth" Jameson, again claiming to have important evidence, is trying to prod the DA's office into summoning her to testify before the grand jury investigating the murder."

[JonBenet, Inside the Ramsey Murder Investigation]2000-04-11: “JonBenet, Inside the Ramsey Murder Investigation”
by Steve Thomas and Don Davis, April 11, 2000

ST Page 141

"The worst of the bunch, and the most likely suspect we came across other than the Ramseys, was John Brewer Eustace III, in custody in Charlotte, North Carolina, for kidnapping a two-year-old girl. Police found the name of JonBenet Ramsey atop a bizarre list of the pedophile's favorite sexual fantasies, and he kept a scrapbook filled with photographs of JonBenet alongside a Barbie doll on a makeshift altar. The guy sounded real.

Even in his orange jail overalls, the gaunt Eustace looked like a predator. When he found out who we were, he waived his Miranda rights because he wanted to talk about the "good-looking little girl."

No matter what his other crimes, we needed information from him, so we offered some fresh air and took him from the jail to the Charlotte PD a few blocks away.

Gosage, with a baby at home, could barely contain his disgust as Eustace recounted, "hypothetically, of course," how he would molest little girls and the importance of wiping fingerprints from bodies. In the North Carolina incident, he confessed to entering the apartment through a garden-level window while an adult was awake in the living room, shushing the little blond child, and taking her away through a window, leaving behind a flashlight. He later tied her, put tape over her mouth, and wrapped electrical cord around her head to control her. The similarities to our case convinced us that we had to investigate this suspect upside-down.

He smoked three packs of Marlboros while recounting dozens of molestations, watching our reactions through half-closed eyes, carefully avoiding dates or places. But he feigned forgetfulness when we tried to account for his whereabouts on December 25.

When we sought samples of pubic hair, he shrugged that he couldn't provide any because he shaved his crotch so as not to leave telltale DNA

ST Page 142

evidence. But in a fourth-floor detective bureau bathroom, Eustace pinched folds of pubic skin and we plucked stubs of hair with tweezers. Finally we returned him to his county jail cell. Back at the hotel I stood beneath a steaming shower scrubbing hard with soap to rid myself of the stench of John Eustace.

We found that he'd had a temporary job with a film processing lab during Christmas week, and a computer-generated time sheet showed that he was at work on December 26. Coworkers remembered he had tried to kiss an unwilling woman employee that night. It was impossible to be in North Carolina and Colorado at the same time. We cleared Eustace but hoped the Charlotte cops would put him away for a couple of forevers."
