Chris Wolf, a Boulder County journalist represented by his attorney, Darnay Hoffman of New York, filed a $50 million. dollar lawsuit on May 2000 in U.S. District Court in Atlanta claiming libel, slander, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Wolf claims in the Ramsey's book, "Death of Innocence," they libelously portrays him as a suspect in the murder.

From the Boulder Weekly article, "John Ramsey's prime suspect," "Chris Wolf was a former reporter for the Colorado Daily and former editor of the Louisville Times. Although police cleared Wolf, the Ramseys won't give it up.

On Good Morning America, Larry King Live, 20/20 and other recent TV shows, John Ramsey has spoken of Wolf as the man he was almost convinced killed JonBenet."

From the http://www.law.com web site article titled, "AOL Time Warner Settles Libel Suit With Ramseys" July 5, 2001, "Wood says he has been monitoring the case because he has subpoenaed Thomas to appear at a deposition in Boulder next week. Wood says he has subpoenaed Thomas as a witness in a civil libel suit filed against the Ramseys by a Boulder man whom police had questioned in connection with JonBenét's death. That man, Christopher Wolfe, has accused the Ramseys of killing their own daughter."

"But, in a separate action, the Ramseys have sued Thomas for $80 million, claiming that he libeled them by publicly blaming Patsy Ramsey for her daughter's murder. Ramsey v. Thomas, No. 1:01-CV-0801 (N.D. Ga. March 29, 2001). Wood says Thomas' attorneys have indicated they will fight the subpoena."

On July 7, 2001
a Daily Times article titled, "Ramsey suits disputed","Steve Thomas filed a motion Thursday 7-5-2001 to prevent his deposition by the Ramseys' attorney in another libel case filed against them. That deposition had been scheduled for Monday the 9th. At issue in that suit is a book written by John and Patsy Ramsey, which named a former housekeeper, Linda Hoffman-Pugh, and a Boulder County journalist, Chris Wolf, as suspects. Diamond said Thomas shouldn't have to be deposed more than once in the civil cases and questioned why Thomas should be a witness in the Wolf case. "Steve is no longer part of the investigation," Diamond said."
