8/8/2001 2:30am EST Wednesday morning:

I just got off the horn with JT. He is in Davenport, Iowa at a Radison (sp?) downtown at $120 smacker a night !! No shit. LOL

And he says it sucks because he didn't get what he paid for. First he said the TV which is suppose to be in color is B&W and the Internet access they advertised isn't working. He said they even charged him extra for electricity !! He plans on bitching in the morning.

He did do some gambling though and won $50 bucks then lost it at the slots. He said the service at the gambling boat sucked also and you could only get a drink every half hour.

Yesterday he stayed at a Comfort Inn in Kearney, Nebraska but he didn't talk to much about that night other than he was dragging butt big time.

If I have any of this wrong I am sure he will correct me. :-)

I wasn't expecting to hear from him tonight and I had just went to bed, well I was laying down watching a movie when the phone rang and it was him calling me from the hotel.

If I hear anymore tomorrow I will let you know.

9:00 pm 8/8:

JT is now in Toledo, Ohio and staying overnight at a hotel but I forgot the name of it. He said he got caught in a God awful traffic jam outside of Chicago.

He is driving in air conditioning though and jamming his radio to country music on the way. At this moment he said he is going to chill out with a few beers and relax then check out the town. Oh and he did say he drove through the area of Toledo that somebody suggested on *cheap* houses and he thinks he has changed his mind on that idea. :-)

His plans are to still head East so I will wait to see if I hear from him again. :-)

JT is here and sitting with me in my bedroom :-)

He is autographing my PMPT right now for me :-P

His is a lot taller than I expected and really a cool dude !! We are planning on going for wings down to the local dive in about half an hour. He likes Bud and smokes Marlboros too !!

This is Sooooooooooooo cool !!

Yep he finally made it and we had a really nice visit. JT is real down to earth and I mean that. Of course I am too. I told him, "what you see is what you get." :-)

He got a real visual of command central here in my bedroom where my computer is. And you should see this boy type with two fingers..OMG !! He is no stranger to a keyboard.

We sat here rapping in the kitchen for a while (that's where the A/C is) and after he checked his e-mail and checked out the forum we decided to go to the local watering hole for wings and a brew which was only 5 minutes away and that is the extent of my traveling.

Myself, my two grandkids and one of their friends went with JT to show him were the local motel was so he could register for the night. The first local motel was full so we had to find a second one. The kids acted like they never seen the inside of a motel and insisted on being allowed to go inside and see what JT's room looked like.

Later my grandson was telling me that JT didn't have a kitchen in his apartment and I thought he meant JT's apartment back in Colorado and he meant in the motel room which he was calling JT's apartment. LOL

That rental van JT got was pretty cool and after we stuck the three kids in the back we looked like the Beverly Hillbillies driving down the street.

After JT got his room and keys we all drove back to the watering hole. Even though it was "wing night" JT got a cheeseburger and fries and the kids and I got chicken strips and fries. (yeah I know I am not suppose to be eating that!) My daughter and her husband was already there waiting for us. We had a great time, well I had a great time. I hope JT had a good time. I will let him tell you if he did or not.

By 9pm we were all dragging butt. JT was tired because he was on the road that morning and then he told me didn't go to bed until like 3:30am the night before because he was walking the streets of Toledo checking out their sights.

When we left, JT drove to his room and my daughter took me and the kids back to my place. I logged online long enough to check my mail and by that time I was ready for bed. I was only going to lay down for a couple hours but ended up sleeping until 3:30am.

JT did call me in the morning (Friday) from the motel at 11am before he left town and said he was heading for Scranton, PA and then into New York. I told him if he wanted to spend another day here that I would give him a computer 101 class but he said he needed to get to his next destination.

I told him if he got to a place where he could check his mail again to send me a quickie mail and give me his next update. I guess we will find out if he logs on here in the next day or two. :-)

I want to say that my visit with J.T.Colfax was very very nice. I wished he lived closer so I could pick his brain more. There were so many things I wanted to ask him while he was here and I completey forgot once I started talking with him. I had to laugh at some of the remarks my grandchildren and their friends made after JT left. I don't have time now but I will post about it. JT will get a kick out of it.

One of the funny things JT and I were laughing at was when we (JT, me, my two grandkids and one of their friends) all got ready to pile into his rented car to find him a motel.

JT said he wanted to go out and move some things in the car to make room for the kids and he said something like, "I need to put my HiTech boots in the trunk" for one thing. We were laughing at that and as we walked out the front door of my apartment there were two naked Barbie's laying on the slab outside the door. Actually my grandaughter and her friend were in the upstairs bedroom playing Barbie and one of them threw the two naked Barbie's out the upstairs window and they landed right outside my front door.

The other funny thing was when we got to the motel and me and kids waited in the car while JT when into register. Well that motel had no rooms available so the motel owner was trying to give JT directions to another local motel and JT couldn't follow his directions since he didn't know where he was. JT came out to the car and asked me to go in and have the motel owner explain to me where the other motels were.

Now remember these are just those small local motels that all towns have, you know sort of like the "Bates Motel" and it is not uncommon for some of the "locals" to be using them and that particular motel was no exception if you know what I mean. Anyway JT referenced me as a "local" when he couldn't understand the directions from the motel owner so he said "I have a local out in the car" and with that he brought me back into the motel office with him. Now I am certainly old enough to be JT's mother so it probably looked pretty funny when I came back in with JT. Maybe you just had to be there. LOL

Last night I was laughing my butt off at my grandaughter and a friend that slept over. They were both laying on my bed watching TV while I was sitting at my computer in the same room. I was offline and was working on the web site I am putting up for JT and as I am adding to a web page I often bring up the page to look at it to make sure it looks okay and that is what I was doing when one of the kids asked what I was doing.

I explained it was JT's webpage I was working on. Now both of them also know I follow the JonBenet case and they saw JonBenet's name on the web page so they both stopped watching TV and was reading what I had on the web page. Then one of them said, "You mean that guy JT who was here is a famous person !!" Prior to that I had never explained anything about JT other than he was a friend who lived in Denver.

So I started laughing and told them yeah he was sort of famous I guess as one of the side show players in the case. Then I showed them where JT autographed my PMPT book and they started reading that and then they were running to my other grandkid and saying, "OMG, Grandma had a famous person here in her apartment!"

Then the two kids were ragging back and forth as to which one of them this "famous JT person" interacted with more. They were saying things like, "I rode in his car!" and the other said, "well, he sat in my chair!" and the other came back with, "so, I went into his motel room!" and the other said, "I got him a beer from the refrigerator!" and the other said, "Well, I am saving his empty beer can he drank out of as a souvenir!" and I started laughing and said, "well he typed on my keyboard!" and we broke bread together !!"

Then they wanted to watch the movie PMPT while one of them was reading all about JT in the PMPT book. The whole time they kept comparing more and more things that each of them did to interact with JT while he was here. It is a good thing they didn't know who he was before he showed up or they would have been rolling out the carpet and beating on each other to wait on him.

And now this is really funny. JT left 5 Budweisers in my refrigeator when he left so now they suggest that I put those 5 unopened beer cans away as they were purchased and handled by JT Colfax !!
