Dearest Gail,

I want to thank you for your support and patient attentiveness to my past mails to you. Your insight into the man in mine and JonBenet's life; (now in her death), was very accurate. Once my foe, you turned into a wonderful friend. I will never forget how most every mail of yours ended with the gracious words, "How can I help you?". You will never know what those sweet words of help meant to me. I am sure you will remain good friends with people whom I respect and know as some of the world's finest journalists. Your intelligent insight coupled with your caring spirit, has brought me through this sea of confusion. I thank you, Gail - for everything.

It is with heavy heart that I come to you with the following unfortunate news - I must leave you now. For security reasons, the ramsey@nym.alias.net address will continue to exist to avoid sabotage through possible takeovers of the account; however, I will not have access to the account after tonight. Therefore, if you send messages to the Ramsey address, you will not be sending mail to me. Please be assured that I am in no present danger. Due to the overwhelming nature of this situation, and the fact that I have exhausted all my efforts; I have decided that I must let John, our investigators, and attorneys handle this situation in the way they see fit.

I am so sorry if I have done anything to confuse you or cause you to have any reservations about me. I am also very sorry that I cannot, at this time, discuss the things I shared with you here, via telephone or mail directed to my 4*** Paces Ferry Road address; the residence of my sister Pam; the Davis residence; or my parent's residence. Furthermore, I cannot discuss the things I shared with you here via any calls made to 404-262-**** or any of my cellular phone numbers. I need to talk to my husband about this before I meet with anyone and discuss this matter in front of him. I have not told him about this man. Our wedding anniversary is just days away - it would be the worse time to bring something of this magnitude up now.

I promise you that I am conscientously making every effort to find a way we can communicate past this closure. There will come an appropriate time when we can communicate via phone and mail - that time is not now.

I thank you for listening to me. I am richer from knowing you in this short amount of time. I will assure you that my husband, our investigators, and our attorneys will do everything possible to make sure justice is served. I hope soon to talk to the authorities personally. Until then, the previously mentioned people in my life will pursue truth and justice.

May God bless you. Until we meet again, you will be in my prayers. I will also pray that our separation will be a brief one. I feel confident that we will be back together in a very short time. Please remember my family in your prayers.

In Loving Gratitude,
Patricia Ramsey

Dearest Patti,

Patti, I will never forget what you have done for me. I will never forget the untold hours you have spent talking to me; helping me through this grief; showing concern when you felt I was in danger. I will never forget your faith in me when the world seemed to believe me guilty of this horrible crime. I will never forget your understanding responses when my heart was so full of grief over the loss of my baby. You have been like a sister to me. I know, someday, I will meet the woman who has shown my entire family such loyalty; such support. You pledged your faith in me during my darkest hours. Though I know more dark hours will follow, I am thankful that I had your friendship to help carry me through the ones I have survived thus far. My dearest Patti, words cannot describe what you have meant to me.

[Death of Innocence]2000-03-18: “Death of Innocence” written by John and Patsy Ramsey

DOI Page 310

"One of those alias e-mailers intruded into our lives in April 1999. Out of the clear blue, somebody started sending e-mail letters signed "Patricia" and implying that she/he was Patsy. This person claimed that she/he needed someone to talk with and wanted a friend. People receiving these e-mails reported to Jameson that they were talking to Patsy. Jameson told them that Patsy wasn't on the Internet and had no e-mail address. Then she gave them specific questions to ask "Patricia" the next time they talked to her, like what was Jameson wearing when you met with her? "Patricia" refused to respond to those questions, and got angry at her integrity being challenged.

Patsy and I first became aware that her name was being used in these e-mails when a woman from Wisconsin wrote Patsy a card, expressing concern for her well-being and indicating that they had been communicating through e-mail. She said, "Your last e-mail sounded like you were very down." At first I couldn't figure out the strange card, but later I put two and tow together and realized that someone was on the Internet anonymously posing as Patsy. That, by itself, wasn't particularly disturbing until I was able to get hold of some of the e-mails. They were extremely bizarre. We turned these e-mails over to our investigators to try to locate the sender but found the mysterious "Patricia" was clever enough to hid her/his tracks by using aliases and routing the e-mails through a computer server at MIT, which then rerouted them to a different part of the country."

DOI Page 311

"One of the e-mail communiqués described a letter from a man, which was supposedly sent to Patsy's parents' home at the time the grand jury convened for the first time. "Patricia" said that in his letter this man........... wrote with the promise that he could tell me all about the murderer. He described the killer as a person who is obsessed with little girls fitting JonBenet's description; a person with a definite preference, In a twisted way, he falls in love with his victims. It is debatable what he considers love, but it can be certain; he becomes obsesses with young victims. This person possibly stalked JonBenet for some time prior to making his final move. He is a pedophile, but his sickness runs deeper. He slowly becomes consumed with bringing his young victim as close to death as possible, without actually killing her, until she ultimately dies in his arms; becoming his perfect possession forever.

In great depth, the writer of the letter described a bizarre sexually deviant practice he said he had researched for several years, among other things, including pedophilia. He described individuals who torture their victims to near death through various methods, one known as erotic asphyxiation. He believes that JonBenet's killer was a cross between a pedophile and a person who is sexually aroused by bringing his victim to the point of death, or asphyxiation and other forms of deviant sexual torture.

The "man" whom Patricia claimed sent the letter was, I suspect, "Patricia." This person's description of the killer and the crime was sickening to us, but it was plausible.

In another "Patricia letter" sent on Saturday, July 17, 1999, the writer, claiming to be Patsy, says of JonBenet's killer, "He is not bound by my attorneys....He has no family that would think evil of him to kill another little girl like JonBenet."

While the letters had a chilling, soap opera sound, the undertone was threatening. We seriously wondered if this person could be the killer, a schizophrenic who was teasing us with his clues. We couldn't find out without the intervention of the police or some other government agency with the legal power to subpoena subscriber information from the Internet service providers. We don't know if the BPD ever followed up on this lead, but all this information was turned over to them."

NOTE FROM THIS WEBMASTER:

In the Ramsey's book, "Death of Innocence" Page 310 they write, "People receiving these e-mails reported to Jameson that they were talking to Patsy. Jameson told them that Patsy wasn't on the Internet and had no e-mail address. Then she gave them specific questions to ask "Patricia" the next time they talked to her, like what was Jameson wearing when you met with her? "Patricia" refused to respond to those questions, and got angry at her integrity being challenged."

This statement above is not true. The posters under the names of "cheesy" and "gsquared" were the two main posters who logged close to 300 e-mails between themselves and the Patricia letter writer. Both of these posters were ABSOLUTELY NOT on good terms with Jameson and she would have been the LAST person they would have asked assistance from regarding the Patricia Letters. If anything, both posters thought that the Patricia Letter writer was Jameson. Whoever passed that quoted information to the Ramseys to use in their book was full of lies.

I think it should be fairly easy to figure out the identity of 'afriend' just by looking at the photos that are posted on the FindAGrave.com web site.

[Find-a-grave photo of JonBenet's grave]Take a look at this one: JonBenet's Grave

See the line of gold thingys below the December 25, 1996? Susan Bennett put those there when we visited the cemetery together in July of '98. They were very thin metallic confettie type objects that wouldn't stay in place for very long, IMO. A little breeze would blow them away in a flash.

So.....my guess is that Susan herself took that photo and sent it to the Find A Grave site using that 'afriend' email OR she informed someone in the immediate family of her handiwork and they went to take that picture. It had to have been taken around the end of July, beginning of August of '98.

Dim, I can't say I think that Tracey authored the Patricia letters but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that he knows who did author them.
You know he kept saying "they" (not sure who THEY are) couldn't trace them because the anonymous e-mailer used but just reference this e-mail below that was written by Jim Tipton to Cheesy where he explains what e-mail address was used to sent him the picture to put be on the find-a-grave site.

The person who sent the pics to the find-a-grave site used email addy "ramsey080690@hotmail.com" and I would bet Bob's left nut that hotmail account is still being used as of today !!

So, the Ramsey super detectives and Michael Tracey couldn't trace the Patricia letter e-mails, eh? Well, then why didn't they just go back to the origianl hotmail account that sent the photos in to begin with? It shouldn't be that hard to issue a warrant for a hotmail acount considering John Ramsey stated in his book that he thinks this might be the killer of his daughter.

Why? Because they probably already know who it is.

Below are the three captions the photo sender wanted on the site as described above in Jim Tipton's e-mail. I copied these back in May 1999 and even though it shows the anonymous "ramsey@nym.alias.net" e-mail addy on the find-a-grave web site back then, THAT was not the e-mail addy that was used to send the pics to the site.

I spent a little time last night going back and reading a few of them again. Two of the e-mails in particular clearly show me that it was not Patsy Ramsey writing them.

One of them, the last one, dated Thursday, November 11, 1999 has a section as follows,

"I need to talk to my husband about this before I meet with anyone and discuss this matter in front of him. I have not told him about this man. Our wedding anniversary is just days away - it would be the worse time to bring something of this magnitude up now."

Patsy and John were married on November 5, 1980 and that date had already passed when that last e-mail was sent.

The e-mail of May 4, 1999 from ramsey@nym.alias.net is rather long with a full detailed description of landmarks in Atlanta, obviously to prove they are Patsy and really in Atlanta. I will include it below but an important note is that within those long detailed instructions is the following:

"There are real estate buildings everywhere on Roswell Road. There is a brand new post office with poor service off Roswell Road. You can turn right off Roswell Road, right after Happy Gas, and get to Northside Hospital. There is a great ski shop on that road. Right at the I-285 and Roswell Road intersection, there is a tall building about 11 stories tall with a sign that reads "Newberger/Andes".

In my opinion, the original writer of the Patricia letters, if Patsy, zipped right on past mentioning that Northside Hospital was where JonBenet was born and never seem to bat any eye, never made comment, considering the letter writer was SO INTO making this memorial dedication on the find-a-grave site to start with and detailed in other letters their love for JonBenet and how much they missed her over and over again. I can't believe that if it was Patsy who actually wrote the original letters that she would not have stopped within her detail instructions to comment that Northside hospital was were JonBenet was born.

Here's that e-mail:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: 4 May 1999 02:46:18 -0000
From: Ramsey

Patti,

I am not that great with street names but I will try to give you a picture of the Atlanta area as best I can. I think you will be convinced that I live here. Please read this carefully?

I will proceed to take you up Roswell Road. To get to Roswell Rd. and Northridge Road, I have to get on I-285 and travel to the Sandy Springs / Roswell Road exit #17. I sometimes exit at Powers Ferry Landing and go up Powers Ferry Road and take a left on Mt Paran until it dead ends into Roswell Road. There is a realty business dead ahead. It used to be a residential house. I can then take a left to go toward Roswell or right to go to Buckhead and downtown. If I turn left on Roswell, there was once a Chi Chi's Mexican restaurant on the left on Roswell Road. It is not called that now. I can't recall it's name now. There are real estate buildings everywhere on Roswell Road. They are commercial developers. Across the road, there is a tall real estate building. It is white in color. There are a smattering of night spots on both sides of the road on Roswell, just above I-285. Up from there, K-Mart is on the left. Just past K-Mart, at the intersection, there is a Burger King on the left and a service station just across that. One road that crosses Roswell Road, at this point, is Hammond Drive. There is a park called Hammond park and you can take that road as a shortcut to Perimeter Mall, another great place to shop). The alternate route to Perimeter Mall is on I-285, exit 21 Ashford/Dunwoody Road. Up Roswell Road, on the left, there is a Starbuck's with great coffee. Roswell Road is really not my immediate area but I know more about it than I thought I did.

My family and I often shop at Cumberland Mall. Oh, I can't forget to mention the beautiful Galleria Mall. It is close to Cumberland. Cumberland Mall is located on hwy 19/41. It is easy to access from Marietta. Sometimes, I feel like going to Buckhead. When I do, I shop at Lenox Square. It has changed so much since I lived here before. The Marta train has a station right behind Lenox Square Mall.

When I am in that area, I can take the Georgia 400 to Roswell (the city). If I exit to I-285, I can exit off on the Sandy Springs exit to get on Roswell Road. While on GA 400, if I exit before I-285, on Lenox Road, I don't have to pay a toll. It is a toll road, you know. I might visit the Paugh residence if I go up GA 400 to Roswell (the city). It is easy to get to, since they live down and to the left of Roswell High School. Brookfield West is a nice neighborhood.

Tower Place is in Buckhead. It has scattered shops at its base, where I like to eat. Tower Place is a tall building across from the Kroger store. When I lived here before, there was a night spot across the road called, "The Lime Light". It has been gone for years. Your Jameson person would not know that.

When I am on Roswell road, coming from Buckhead and entering into Sandy Springs, to get to I-75, which leads to Marietta and to I-285, I take a shortcut through a winding road called Mount Paran Road. At the end of this road is the Mount Paran Church of God. Haven't you ever heard of Mylon Lefevre (mispelled that name)? I can take a right here and go back to Cumberland Mall. I can keep going up 19/41 and I am in Marietta, passing the Big Chicken. What is the Big Chicken? It is a landmark in Marietta. It is a huge chicken with a beack that opens and closes; a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.

Oh yeah, I-285 is a circle around the city. Here in Atlanta, we call this "the perimeter". You either live inside the perimeter or outside the perimeter. Roswell is a city and also a road. The city of Roswell is reached fastest by GA 400, depending on where you are located.

I can go on and on because I live in Atlanta. I have left here and returned. I can remember things that were here before. There has been a lot of development since I was here before. Atlanta is a great place to live.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, this letter writer talks about this mysterious stranger who she claims began writing her at that same anonymous e-mail address a year before Cheesy began writing. The letter writer says this mysterious stranger stated to her that he visited the grave often, quotes his undying love for JonBenet and she quotes things he has said to her in e-mails. It is kind of chilling because some of those quotes do sound very much like the mysterious grave stranger was John Mark Karr.

Anyway, that's my wisdom for today. :-)
