LP: "Uh, go ahead. I -- I was just thinking. I -- I hear about him, 'cause the kids, you know, they don't talk about him a lot. And Danielle pretty much didn't want to even think about him, but recently, I mean, the last two times he's been arrested, they've talked about it."
LP: "You know? So that's -- so I have talked about him with them and stuff, but only relating to those instances."
DD: "And how -how would they know if he was arrested? Through his mother?"
LP: "Through his mother."
LP: "And she went down there, um, a -- a week and a half ago, or two weeks ago, whatever. Right after the last time, to help him find an apartment or someplace to live."
LP: "And I found that out just a few days ago in one of the conversations talking about him."
DD: "Okay. And with -- with -- with all this has happened, I mean, uh, does this surprise you that he -- do you -- would you think he would be capable of actually killing somebody?"
LP: "You know, I -- I was talking -- Jeremy and I were talking about this, and I'd like to say yes, but, uh, I think deep down for a number of years I always had this feeling inside me that something bad was really gonna happen relating to Scott."

Friday "On Friday, April 13, deputies arrested Scott Huss for violating his restraining order when he showed up at her house. He spent one night in jail, posted $5,000 bond and was looking for her at her Venice church within days. Church members told him to leave, then called a Sarasota County sheriff's deputy, who issued Huss a trespassing warning when he lingered in the area. Staff Sergeant Scott L. Huss posting online at irma.newsvine.com
Tuesday "Staff Sergeant Scott L. Huss

I married a Russian woman 4 years ago and she has implicated me on "domestic violence" charges on 4 or 5 occasions. There has been NO domestic violence in the home EVER and I am now sure that it was just "immigration/marriage fraud". I loved here and she played me for the fool, following the now "ever popular" checklist that is readily available for them to use to destroy someone's life. I may have been "DUPED" like a lot of American military men but the USCIS (former INC) is really not doing anything about it. Three years ago the USCIS was going to deport her because of the significant pressure I put on them through and with Congressional help. I STOPPED them from deporting her because I let my heart get in the way of my mind. I am going to work for the rest of my life to fix this problem and I need help. I need help and hope that the show can do something to help thousands of people."

Peter told his teacher at Myakka River Elementary School that Scott Huss choked him and put a gun to his head
Monday "Just days before police say Scott Huss killed his wife, Huss' 8-year-old stepson told his teacher that he was being threatened and abused by Huss. Now the school district is investigating whether that teacher and other staff members at Myakka River Elementary School ever notified authorities about the boy's reported abuse, as required by law."

In an interview last week the boy's second-grade teacher, Carol Ziroff, said either on April 23 or April 24, she called Yana Huss to ask why her son was not in school. Yana Huss sounded hysterical, Ziroff said, screaming that she and her children were being threatened by Scott Huss and were going to a shelter in Sarasota." Ziroff said she then went to guidance counselor Dan Dandy and reported that Huss had said she and her son were in danger. Ziroff said when the boy arrived at school later that day, Dandy pulled him out of class to talk to him.

When the boy came back to class, Ziroff said she asked him what was happening. That is when he told her that Scott Huss had choked him and put a gun to his head, Ziroff said." Myakka River Principal Jeffrey Harvey said neither Dandy or Ziroff had reported any suspicions of abuse to him and did not know if either had notified the authorities."

She knew Yana, a nursing student, had two final exams weighing heavily on her mind in the last week of her life."

"She [Yana] had called her mother two days before her death and said she was fearful. Her mother told her: "Run away. Run away." For two days, her mother's phone didn't ring. Longwood Police Department alerted Charlotte deputies at 3:10 p.m.
Wednesday "The discovery of Yana Huss' body came in a roundabout manner. Scott Huss drove 175 miles north, dropped his stepson [Peter] off in his mother's yard in Longwood [Seminole County] on Wednesday and left. His mother, Joyce Huss, called police, saying she was concerned for the well-being of Yana Huss, according to a press release issued by the sheriff.

Deputies went to the Port Charlotte house and found Yana Huss dead. Her husband was picked up at a bus station in Tallahassee [Leon County] where he had purchased a bus ticket, according to the sheriff's office. It was unclear where he was going. "He was headed out somewhere," Davenport [Port Charlotte Sheriff John Davenport] said."

[174 Miles or 3 hours drive from Scott Huss home - 2080 Rickover St, Port Charlotte, Florida 33953 to Joyce Huss home - 950 1st Place, Longwood, Florida 32750]
Wednesday "It was the barking of her dogs that alerted Joyce Huss to the presence of someone at her Longwood home [Seminole County] Wednesday morning. When Huss opened the door, she could barely believe her eyes: Her 9-year-old grandson was standing on her porch in a bloody shirt, holding onto a small suitcase that had in it a computer and a nine-page letter written by Huss' son, Scott Huss, who had driven away. "Grandma, my mom is really dead," said the boy, who authorities say witnessed his stepfather kill his mother, Yana Huss, in their Port Charlotte home just hours before. "Grandma, I'm going to be staying with you." Joyce Huss, 75, ushered the boy inside and tried to comfort him."

"Joyce Huss said that after she brought Peter inside, she called Scott Huss on his cell phone but he didn't answer. Then he immediately called Huss back. He told her that he couldn't talk about what happened, but that she would know the next day. She opened the small suitcase and
found the letter from her son. It contained details on his relationship with his wife, and instructions on how to divide his assets among his children and other relatives. It also said that Huss wanted a military burial. According to his mother, he had served in the Air Force and was in the Army Reserve. Huss included the name of a colonel to help arrange the funeral."

"Joyce Huss said the attack must have taken place no later than 7:30 a.m. because it is a three-hour drive from Port Charlotte to Longwood, and Scott Huss dropped the child off a few minutes before 11."

MH: "we drove back to my house -- 'cause mom was gonna drop me off, 'cause she came over and picked me up we were gonna -- she dropped me off at home. And, uh, this was one o'clock -- I remember right at one o'clock. And the boy was sitting in the passenger seat and my mom was sitting there and I was outside the door saying bye to 'em outside -- right outside her window. And the little boy said, "My mom is dead." And I looked in and went, "What?"
And he said, "My mom is dead." And, uh, my mother looked at him and he starts crying, you know, and is, like, he went from telling us he -- she was stabbed in the hospital to he's dead. And I'm, like, "Oh, my gosh." You know -- I said -- I looked at mom and said, "This is kind of serious, you know."

MH:
"She said, "Well, I need to go to Wal-Mart and get him a shirt. 'Cause he's got blood all over him, he smells and he's stinky." So she went to Wal-Mart and got him a shirt and went home and -- Wal- Mart's not far so she went to Wal-Mart it's a ten minute drive. She went to Wal-Mart, got home and it was about two o'clock. This is about an hour transpired between one and two. She called me up and said, "Mike, I'm coming -- I've got the letter here. It's ten pages long." She starts reading -- she read the first page to me, she said, "Mike, I can't read it all, can you get over here?" So I was over there by -- she finished reading it to me about 2:15 or so, I was at here about 2:20 - 2:25, I was here at her house."

MH: And I read the entire letter and I said, "Mom, we gotta call the police. This is a suicide note or something."

MH: "So I called a friend of mine from Orange County -- Orange County Police Department -- a good buddy of mine. And I said, "Carlos, what - what should I do?" And he said, "You need to call Port Charlotte Police Department"

Excerpts from Laura Harris Prutsman [Scott Huss first wife] interview with Detective Davis of the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office April 25, 2007 9:41p.m. until 10:05p.m. regarding Homicide of Yana Huss 04/25/2007 Pg13,14:

LP: "Yeah, he said, um -- he said, um -- I'm trying to think. The first thing he said was, "I didn't" -- oh, he started talking after the, um --there was -- a female officer took Peter off to talk to him -- and when they came back in. So it was probably a little longer than what I originally said. Um, because he sat on the couch. He was on the couch when I got in, but he was just kind of watching TV. Didn't seem upset at all."
LP: "Just kind of matter of fact. But, after she talked to him, he --
he said something about, um, "He -- he -- he made me -- he made me say that that happened, but he's the one that brought me. And -- and I -- I lied because I'm afraid of him. And I was afraid he'd hurt me like he did my mom."
DD: "Him" being Scott Huss?"
LP: "Scott."

DD: "-- did, uh -- did you happen to see any of the blood on Peter's shirt?"
LP: "No -- no."
LP: "I saw his shoes only. When they were getting ready to take him, um, he wanted his new shoes. And I -- was helping him look. And I picked up and he said, "No, those are the shoes I had on. Grandma bought me new shoes." So that's the only thing. And I don't even know if there's any blood on those shoes."
LP: "But they were the shoes he came in."

['Lunch. She had lunch and my daughter is dead?']
"Lunch. She had lunch and my daughter is dead," said Eleana Kuchinskaya. "Nobody called to police. Nobody. Why? I cannot understand why she is still not in jail," cried Kuchinskaya. "11 to 2 o'clock. 2:15, 2:45, Peter was with Scott's mother and she did not call police."
Wednesday "On April 25th, at 11 o'clock in the morning, 8-year-old, Peter Shalin showed up at his grandmother's front door in Central Florida. He was covered in blood, carrying a suitcase, which contained a letter from his step-father, Scott Huss. New documents released by the state's attorneys office say the 8-year-old witnessed the murder, then Huss dropped the boy off at his mother's home in Longwood.

Those reports show, Joyce Huss, Scott's mother found Peter at 11 a.m. She then contacted Scott and he told her, "don't tell anyone, don't call anybody." Ten minutes later, Joyce Huss picked up her other son, with Peter. Michael Huss, Scott's brother, told detectives, "I had notice some stains on his shirt, didn't really think much of 'em." He went on to say, "He (Peter) did tell us his mother was stabbed and that she was in the hospital." But neither Joyce nor Michael Huss called police. They went to lunch, and took the boy with them.

The documents went on to show that at one o'clock, Joyce Huss dropped her son, Michael, back at home. That's when Peter told them, still in the blood stained clothes, "my mom is dead... my mom is dead." Joyce Huss did not call police, instead she took Peter to Wal-Mart to buy new clothes. In a written statement to Longwood Police, Huss wrote, "on the way to Wal-Mart he did say, 'if she is dead, I may be here a long time."

Reports say it wasn't until 2 p.m. that Joyce Huss read the 12-page manifesto Scott left her. The letter was an apparent suicide note. After Huss read the note, she called her son Michael, he went to home, and then he called authorities. That happened at 2:40 p.m., nearly four hours after Peter first appeared."

Interviews with Scott's relatives reveal Peter initially told them "a man broke into his home and stabbed his mother." He later broke down and admitted it was his step-father, Scott, who killed his mother. Peter was heard saying, "he killed my mother and told me not to tell, or he was going to come back and kill me."

Peter saw Scott Huss stabbing his mother
Wednesday "In interviews with Longwood police, the boy said his father appeared at the family's house around 6:30 a.m. and told him to go wait in the bathroom.

The child heard a scream, rushed out of the bathroom and saw his stepfather stabbing his mother with "a large knife," according to the report. He tried to call 911 but was unable to. Scott Huss told the boy to get in the car and drove to Longwood."

MH: "And the only difference is me and mom have is whenever I talked to her earlier she said, "You know, we didn't know about the letter until, you know, until two o'clock or something." And I said, "Mom, you told me about this letter when you came over at eleven o'clock, 'cause she did tell me about the letter. She said, "There's a letter." And that's when I told her at lunch, I said, "Mom, you need to go home and read that letter because it might be important." And -- but -- you know, we didn't read it until two so that's why we waited -- that's why we didn't call anybody 'cause there really wasn't a super concern in our book that there was anything really wrong done. If Yana was murdered before 6:00 a.m. and it took Scott three hours to drive to his mother's
house in Longwood by 11:00 a.m. then where was Scott for two hours between then?
2007-04-25 00:00

Apparently Yana Huss was murdered before 6:00 a.m. because Michael Huss related a story that Scott had told his mother Joyce that Debbie at the daycare center would call Yana at 6:00 a.m. to pick up Katrina but Debbie wouldn't be able to reach Yana

Yana's 8 yr old son witnessed the murder
Wednesday "When police got to her [Yana] house [about 4:20 p.m] they found the front door unlocked. They went in and found tracks of bloody footprints and Yana Huss lying face down. Hussí 8-year-old son witnessed the crime and had blood on his shirt when Scott Huss dropped the boy off at Joyce Hussí house in Longwood, authorities said. The boy will likely be a key witness against Scott Huss when the case goes to trial, Sheriff John Davenport said."

And all of a sudden I hear somebody say, "Mike?" And I'm thinking -- it sounded like Scott, you know, 'cause I haven't talked to him in five years so I -- I really --"

MH: "-- you know, didn't really know for sure but I kind of got his voice 'cause I mean you don't forget your brother's voice. And he just went on to telling me that, uh, something grave has happened here -- or has happened, I don't know if he said here but something grave has happened today. And I'm, like, "Really, what?" And he said, "Uh,
my wife was killed." And I'm playing it like I have no idea that anything is going on. I said, "No. what?" And he said, "Yeah. My wife is dead." And I said, "Wow, How -- how did that happen, you know?" And I said, "Well?" And then he went on to tell me about drinking at a bar with these four buddies and he spills his guts about telling him how this Russian came over and she, you know, he said, "You know Mike, I married this bitch a few years ago." Sorry for my language."

MH: "That's exactly what he said. And, uh, she, uh -- came to this country and wanted to screw me over, take my house, take this, do this. she had me arrested four or five times. I mean, He kept telling me all these bad things that happened. Which I knew a lot about it, 'cause my mothers told me and, uh, you know, that
I - spilt my guts to these four guys drinking one night at a bar and, uh, they asked me where my address was and they asked me such and such, they asked me all about where I live and all this stuff. And, you know, I really think - -I think of these four guys went over to my house and killed her. That's what he told me. So I'm, like, "Really?" You know, and he said, "Yeah." He said, "Yeah." Tallahassee Police Department Incident Report, Page 3 of 3, Date of Report: 04/26/2007, Case # 00-07-013470:

"On 04/25/07, Information was received by this agency in regards to the defendant being wanted for a warrant out of Port Charlotte, FL for homicide. Earlier in the shift, Ofc Glunt had located the defenant's vehicle at a nearlby hotel.

While Ofc Glunt and other officers were following up with that information, Ofc Osborn developed new information that the defendant had recently utilized a local cab company and been dropped off at Mike's Beer Barn (see Ofc Glunt's and Ofc Osborn's report for further details).

Ofc Osborn confirmed via video surveillance from Mike's Beer Barn that the individual was indeed the defendant. He quickly relayed this information via radio with an updated description of a white male wearing a long sleeve denim shirt, dark colored shirts, and had short blond hair. He also informed that the defendant was most likely armed.

After this information was received, I was responding to assist another officer requesting backup. As I responded to this request, I observed the defendant from afar walking north into the southern end of the parking lot located at 519 Brevard St. I immediately turned around from my eastbound course on Brevard St and began traveling southbound on N. Macomb St. The defendant was walking southbound quickly alongside the western side of the road on the sidewalk. I pulled ahead of him and called out with him via radio. I ordered the defendant to stop and put his hands on the front of my hood. I stood on the opposite side of the car and held him at gunpoint. Shortly after complying with my initial commands, he put his hands into his waist band and I began backing from the subject into the roadway creating distance. As this was happening, multiple other patrol units were arriving and he became compliant again and followed all my commands. He was subsequently handcuffed by Ofc Ruhle #323 as myself and Ofc Johnson #302 held him at gunpoint.

After Ofc Couch #560 searched the subject, all property located on him was retained via property receipt. The defendant told Ofc Couch the following, "I was hoping he was going to shoot me", and "I was going to do it tomorrow", implicating suicide. Port Charlotte PD was notified and advised they would have an investigator enroute to our agency for follow-up.

After walking the nearby area, the defendant's wallet with his identification was located approximately 35 feet north along the sidewalk from where I had contact with him.

The defendant was transported to The Tallahassee Police Department Headquarters and subsequently booked into LCJ without incident. It should be noted that the defendant was found to have an injunction served against him on 3/28/07 for Yana Huss."

Scott Huss had a four hour lead time to get out of town before police found Yana
Wednesday "BTW, they caught the guy here in Tallahassee yesterday. From an online report:
(www.news-press.com "Man charged in wife's death in Charlotte jail)

By following leads, Charlotte County detectives were able to track suspect Scott Huss, 48, to Tallahassee. After finding the body, Charlotte County Sheriff's officials began hunting for Huss, who was last seen in his 2006 PT Cruiser. They apparently received information that Scott Huss, might travel to Tallahassee, and at 9:30 p.m., they contacted the Tallahassee Police Department, according to a press statement issued by Tallahassee police.

In that statement, here's what the Tallahassee Police say transpired, after they got the call from Charlotte County: Charlotte officials told Tallahassee police that Huss was likely heavily armed and suicidal. Police began a thorough search of hotels and motels. Huss' PT Cruiser was found in the parking lot of a Best Western at 6737 Mahan Drive. Police officers confirmed that Huss had rented a room, but they found out that Huss had taken a cab and left the motel.

Police officers then called cab companies and found out that Huss had been dropped off in the 600 block of West Tennessee Street, in an area known as Frenchtown. Within minutes police found Scott Huss at a bus terminal where he had bought a ticket. They took him into custody without incident."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple of clarifications. The Best Western he checked into is one that is located east of the city along U.S. Highway 90 (the eastern half of Highway 90 in Tallahassee is called Mahan Drive while the western half is called Tennesee Street -- no one really knows why). Frenchtown is one of the older sections of town located adjacent to the downtown area. It is predominately black and is currently undergoing major improvements and renovations. The Greyhound bus station is located nearby where he was intending to slip out of town on one of the buses.
